We are over half way through Frugal February and i have to say, this week has been hard. I had an awful meeting about my PhD which left me nearly in tears and fleeing home to seek solace with my parents and boyfriend.
I am a creature of habit, things get tough and straightaway i am reaching for my bank card to ease the pain, and normally it is things i don't really need, i just like the thrill of owning something new, but it will probably be worn once and then sit in my wardrobe gathering metaphorical dust. Why is shopping such an emotional crutch for me? It often makes me feel shit, either because the clothes i have bought don't fit so i end up feeling rubbish about myself, or it causes guilt ridden dreams where i wake up panicked i won't be able to pay my rent this month. The feeling of joy of ordering and waiting for it to arrive is short lived because like any addict, i am already looking for my next fix. Thus is a relationship i hope to explore much more in the future as i think it is a interesting one.
So this week, sadly i caved and bought some amazing vintage dresses on Ebay, but my lovely boyfriend came to the rescue and offered to buy me them as he knew how shit i was feeling (i got to his and just curled up in bed in my jammies, barely wanting to discuss what happened, before the floodgates opened shortly after) so i actually didn't properly break my spending ban. I can't wait to show you the dresses in outfit posts soon.
I also didn't spend anything at British Plus Size Fashion Weekend, mostly because the clothes were out of my price range, but i will be doing a separate post about the event soon.
There is a few things i have been lusting after this week
How perfect is this ASOS Curve skirt? Polka dot and swing? Yes please!

I saw a few girls wearing this at BPSFW and now i really want it.
And then there is a selection of amazing dresses from Very.
So this week i have saved at least £117, which is pretty amazing.
Also don't forget to enter my giveaway, the chance to win some rad fat literature.

Sorry to hear you've had a shit week - well done on resisting spending yourself :)

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear your meeting was horrible :( I am finding Frugal Feb really hard. I've spent both weeks, but only about £20, so I'm doing better than I would normally. I use spending as a crutch too. x x
ReplyDeleteI love this dress on you it's loverly the print great
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that you've had a really shit week. I hope things get better for you soon. I'm also guilty of shopping when I'm down as a pick me up, and like you said, it's always short lived before moving on to the next one. You've done so well, though, and that's an amazing saving so far! Really love that polka dot skirt! xx
ReplyDelete!!! Love the polka dot skirt and sheer panel Asos top. Actually I love all your picks! I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience at the doc though. :( I tend to do the same thing when I've had a bad day--reach for my card and shop! Learning to control the habit though. lol =/
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, I'm so bummed that Very stopped shipping to the US! :( Keeping my fingers crossed that they change back again, but we'll see!
