The dress of dreams

Dress* - Scarlett and Jo

Can we take a minute to appericate just how stunning this dress is? I have been dreaming about it. I first laid eyes on the dress at Plus North on the Scarlett and Jo catwalk. I regularly tweeted the team to see when it was coming out and i think the dress Gods were looking down on me when an email arrived in my inbox asking if i would like to review the dress.

The dress has a retro feel with its prom style, the mesh neckline and sleeves adds a little oopmh but in a modest way and the polka dots are the cherry on top of this dress. I am wearing the 22 which is a pretty good fit, the mesh top is a bit big on me but i think the 20 wouldn't have fit my bust as well. The sweetheart neckline is quite low, i didn't have the correct bra really for this but next time i will. It has a tie that forms a lovely bow on the front, which is another great little detail. The petitecoat isn't too big that you could only wear this as an evening dress. All in all, this dress is perfection and me to a tee.

OMCZ - Accessories

Challenge 25#
Accessories - This weeks challenge theme has been chosen by Nikki. "My idea was to go with accessories unless that has already been done. I thought we can use scarves, bags or statement jewellery to show how you can change the look of an outfit and the bolder the better."

Dress - Alice and You via ASOS Curve
Hat - ASOS
Necklace - New Look
Boots - New Look

I learnt today that i am not really an accessories person, yes i wear necklaces but more because i think they are fun or cute, i pretty much never build an outfit around them, they are last minute add ons. So this was quite a hard challenge for me and the final result is out of my comfort zone. I rarely wear hats as i don't think i can pull them off, they just make me face look rounder. The dress is amazing, it feels furry if that makes sense and i'm a fan of the print. The necklace is a sale purchase, it is a big statement piece that i thought was perfect for this challenge

Girls night out

Dress* - Yours
Cape* - Yours

The day of love is fast approaching, yes i am talking about Valentines day. I am single for the first time in 2 years (not that we really did much for it anyway) so this year i would be going out with the girls if i  was to go out. Who needs a guy when you have amazing friends who you don't need to shave your legs for and can eat as much chocolate in front of you like (you can also wear your Bridget Jones pants without shame). Yours kindly sent me the perfect girls night outfit.

The cape i am in love with, i wear it around the house and maybe pretend to be villain. It is so soft and fut trim collar is adorable.  It is also a great length and one size fits all.

The dress caught my eye as i think the cut out detail is really quite striking. The back is also quite different, showing some skin. I got the 22 and i like the slightly baggy shape on me, it doesn't hug my curves, just skims them. I feel quite classy in this dress. The length is also really good on me. A nice twist on the classic LBD.

Have you thought about what you will be wearing for Valentines day?

As a special treats Yours are offering a little something for Valentines day orders

Blue Knit

Dress - Primark
Necklace - New Look

I'm a bit behind on some of my posts (blame excitement for some of the outfits i wanted to show you). I bought this dress for Berlin, it looked perfect for keeping me snuggled up and warm, and it certainly did. Sometimes Primark can come up trumps for cheap clothing that is just what you need.

New Year New Look

I was contacted by New Look asking if i would like to take part in their, New Year New You campaign. The idea behind it is "It's a new year and what could be better than creating a totally new look and entering January in style". We were given £40 and asked to pick an outfit from New Look. So here is my look...

Jumpsuit* - New Look (no longer on site but you can get it from ASOS here)
Shoes - Asda
Necklace - Scarlet and Jo goody bag

I have never worn a jumpsuit before, i have seen them on others, thought they looked amazing, but always just moved on and put it down as something that won't suit me. When i got this challenge and was browsing the website for my outfit i spotted this beauty and thought what the hell, just go for it, only the 22 was left in stock so it seemed liked fate. I don't normally like wrap over busts as they fail to contain me, but i am happy to report that this one is great, the frill detail helps and doesn't make your bust look overly huge. It came with a belt with i found fit great and the back has a cut out detail that i forgot to get a photo to. It is made of a shiny jersery material, i was a bit worried about camel toe but i am safe and the legs are quite wide cut. The only downside for me is the length, i really wanted to pair this with some amazing heels but i couldn't as it just isn't long enough. I'm 5'4 and a firm believer that trousers this wide should hit the floor, so i had to wear pumps with it (they are amazing) but you tall ladies might need to watch out.

So can i carry off the jumpsuit?

On Wednesdays we wear pink

Jumper - Primark
Skirt - Asos Curve
Shoes - Topshop
Necklace - Topshop

I had my first day back at uni today, several meetings, sorting out teaching and a hilarious lunch with the PhD's meant it wasn't so bad, was actually kind of nice to be back, i think i have spent too long with nothing to do (i use that term loosely) sitting about in my jammies, so it is nice to have something to get up for. Anyway onto the outfit, this mean girls quote is everywhere at the moment, and not one to miss a bandwagon, i have jumped right on.  I am loving the pink trend, i really wanted a pale pink coat but couldn't find one in my size, and i hardly ever wear coats, this is a cropped jumper that i wore tucked in, i am having a love affair with eyelash knit right now, it is just so soft and snuggly. Overall i think this outfit is cute and perfect for lunch with the mean girls.

Not another blogging challenge: Sales bargains

This months theme is sales and bargains. I did quite well in the sales this year, getting my mitts on some bits i had been after for a while, like everyone else, i need to keep an eye on the pennies. I am going to show you my favourite sale bargains i picked up this year

My top 4 sale bargains

Laura Mercier palette - This is a thing of beauty, i longed for it but at £65 i just couldn't justify it. It went half price in the Space NK so i snapped it up. I think this is my best sale buy.

River Island shoes - I saw these when they first came out but i just wasn't brave enough to buy them. They went down to £20 in the sale and i thought sod it, buy them, I had seen Cass wearing them and look fab so i wanted to give them a go. I'm glad i did as i love them. They are a bit OTT but so what? i got some looks when i wore these to Sainsburys.

Roberto Cavalli perfume - My favourite part of sale time is perfume shopping, this is when i normally stock up for the year, but i received quite a few perfumes for Christmas so i was quite tame this year. I got this box set from Debenhams for £24, which is amazing value, the 50ml bottle retails for over £45

ASOS Curve dress - No list would be complete without a fashion item. I got a few fashion pieces in the sale this year but not as many as i thought i would (ASOS sizing let me down again). I have an OOTD of dress coming up soon so i will talk about it then. But this was £19 which i think is a great price for such a lovely dress.
