Schrödinger's Cat

I first heard of Schrödinger's Cat while watching The Big Bang Theory. Leonard's attempt to arrange a date with Penny results in both Penny and Leonard's seeking Sheldon's advice. Sheldon advises Penny that “just like Schrödinger's cat being alive and dead at the same time”, her date with Leonard currently has both“good and bad” probabilistic outcomes. The only way to find out is to “open the box”. I really liked this idea and started reading up on it.

I seen Mhairi post a link to the website Qwetee which had a Schrödinger's Cat t shirt as their t shirt of the day and for only £8 I snapped it up. I ordered an XL and it fits me perfectly. I wanted to keep the look simple and comfy, I am just at home working on my PhD thesis at the moment, so I paired it with my ASOS skater skirt (this skirt goes with everything) and again my ASOS spike belt

OPI Nail Polish

Another new love of my mine is OPI nail polish. I have been a serial nail biter since i was child, i remember my mother trying all sorts of things to get me to grow my nails, from nasty tasting nail stuff to money but nothing worked, i would just absent mindedly nibble away, or when i was stressed i would just take delight in    chewing my nails off, however recently this seems to have changed, my bf bought me the Ciate advent calender so now i have a huge collection of nail polish so i actually tried to grow my nails, and i did pretty well, until they started breaking and snapping because they are quite weak but i know i just need to persevere with it, as it will be worth it. I would like to add, i will never be growing them hugely long, just long enough to paint them nicely.

So with this in mind i have recently acquired  a few OPI nail polishes, which people rave about, but have a very high price tag, i would normally only spend a few pounds on a nail polish so this is a big investment for me. So here is my little collection.

Suzi Says Feng Shui. This was a very runny nail polish so a little bit went a long way. It is quite a bright blue color which i really like. I received this item in a Glamour goody bag.

The Color To Watch. This is a glitter polish, it needed 3 coats to build the color up. It's a stunning lilac color, really pretty. I bought this from a blog sale for £5.

OPI Ink. This is another glitter polish, it needed 2 coats but you could get away with one. It is a very dark purple color. I also got this from a blog sale (the same one) for £5.

William Tell Me About. In the bottle this looks like a really dark red, almost oxblood or burgundy but on it is more bright red looking (if that makes sense), This is only one coat but it would need two (i didn't get to do two as i knocked the bottle over and it went on my bed so i was on damage control). Again this polish was quite runny. I got this in a Xmas beauty box from my best friend.

Moonraker. This is part of the James Bond collection (there are a few others i have my eye on but waiting until i have the funds or find them cheap). This is an amazing silver/blue color which i think is quite unusual and was instantly drawn to it when i seen it, i asked Santa for this and clearly a good girl as it was under the tree Xmas day. This is one coat, it is quite thick so you don't need a lot.

Do you like OPI nail polish? Do you have a Favorite color?

ASOS Curve review

I have been hunting for a wow dress for British Plus Size Fashion Weekend. I did find one but when it arrived it was a battle to get in, and it was a battle my boobs won and the dress lost, luckily it was the same time that ASOS had 25% for students so i loaded up my basket with a few dresses i liked to see if i found the dress.

Dress with embellished lace trim, £48 available here

This dress comes in two colors, nude and purple, i chose the purple which is more wine color i think than purple but the color is really nice and makes it stand out. The detail is also unique and a bit different, i think this is more of a dressy dress than something that could be worn everyday. I'm also not a fan of the sleeves, why do some many dresses come with these sleeves? they just aren't that nice, give me a normal sleeve. I got this in a size 20 as i knew it came up large, the size is really good but i am suffering from something i am going to call, hungry boob, the detail under my bust line seems to disappear into my bust line and you can no longer see it. I am not sure why this happens, it isn't because it is too small, it might be because i am quite busty. It has two layers and a nice square neckline. I just didn't like this on me enough to make me want to buy it.

Shirt Dress in color block £35 available here

Again this is a really nice dress and the fit was pretty good. I got a size 22 and it did well over my bust, my problem was with the white band around the middle, it was just a bit tight and didn't sit right, another case of the hungry boob seemed to be happening. I also don't think the collar does me any favours (i'm not sure why though) the material is light weight so would be lovely in the summer and the skirt is a bit floaty and came to knee length on me. If this was in the sale i might repurchase but for not it is not for me.

Shirt Dress with floral embroidery £50 Available here

This is quite a heavy dress, it has two layers on the bottom and long sleeves making it good for the weather. The embroidery is really nice, it features on the cuffs, the collar and along the buttons. I got a size 22 and it is too big in the waist and sleeves, it fits well on my bust and the buttons don't seem to be straining but if i sized down to get the fit everywhere else i know it wouldn't fit on my bust. This is a nice dress but a little expensive for what it is and it didn't have the wow factor for me.

So while none of these dresses were the one, i did get a fourth dress in the this order, which was perfect, however you will need to wait to see it, a girl needs to have some mystery and surprise.

Simply Perfect For Every Size

If you saw my sales haul post, you will have already had a sneak peek at this dress. I got it during the rad fatties shopping day in Doncaster. While in the changing rooms it became apparent that several of us were trying this dress on and some already had it. So we decided to show you the same dress on 5 different body shapes.

The dress was an absolute bargain, Simply Be had 3 for 2 on sale items so Lolly, Rachel and I clubbed together and got the dress, which was marked at £10 down to £6.60, amazing!

The dress is still available on the Simply Be website here. I got this dress in size 20 but i think i could have actually sized down to an 18 if i wanted, the cut is quite generous. The knot detail makes this dress really stand out and is quite a unique feature, it is also really flattering, making me look a lot more hourglass than i am. The print is paisley, which i think is timeless. I like that it has sleeves, meaning i don't have to wear a cardigan with it. I think this is quite a grown up look for me, my mum seen it and told me i actually looked like a stylish young lady. I would love to get some colored tights and play around with this dress but that is for another time.

I paired the dress with a pair of knitted tights from Tesco, Chelsea Boots from Evans and a slick of MAC lipstick in impassioned.

Now go see how the others girls have styled theirs, i bet they all look fabulous!

Hardcore flowers

I had wanted the ASOS Curve digital print blouse so badly i stalked the site, i had made the mistake of ordering my normal size and found it came up tiny and was gutted, it came back in stock weeks later but the next size up was size too small over my bust so i resigned myself to the fact this shirt wouldn't be mine and i set out to find an alternative.

Forever 21 came to my rescue, they had a shirt that was pretty similar and was described as watercolor floral, having bought shirt from Forever 21 before i knew they could come up a bit small so i ordered the 3x which cost me £18.75 (cheaper than ASOS's version even in the sale) and i was really glad i had tried it when it arrived, the colors were soft and it was very feminine, The sleeves are a little long but i can live with that.

As the shirt was so feminine and the key piece to the outfit i wanted to keep the bottom half pretty plain, so as not to detract from the shirt, so i paired it with my ASOS skater skirt (which is really nice, lots of material), but i wanted to toughen the look up a bit so added my ASOS spike belt, which is a really fabulous belt and to finish off i added my Primark necklace.

Raspberry Rebel

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you will have already seen my new hair but i thought i would do a post on it, in case anyone out there wants to do something similar.

I seen this hair dye in Boots for £4 (Superdrug  have it for £3.50). It is part of the Live XXL ultra brights range, i was drawn to raspberry rebel as it is such a nice color, not quite red but not really pink, a lovely in between color.  I ombred my hair last month making it perfect for something like this.

This is a stage 1 color which means it will wash out in 6-8 washes, perfect for out there change that won't last forever. One tube was enough to do my hair so if yours is longer than mine, you will need several tubes. The instructions gives you several ways to apply this color, Streaks, all over or dip dye, which is what i went for (however i didn't use foils as i'm too lazy). Take the warning on the pack seriously  this stuff will stain anything it touches, i now have a pink shower and i used an old towel for drying as the color comes out. It also warns you that if it gets wet, it will run and ruin any fabric is touches, so this is not a dye to mess with.

The gloves in the packet are awful, if you have your own, use them. Mine ended up splitting getting dye all over my mums hand (my lovely mother helped me do it as she didn't want me staining the whole bathroom trying to do it myself). We followed the method of putting it in your hand and rubbing in, but if i was to do this again, i think i would use a brush and bowl (ones designed for doing hair) as the mixture was more like a paste than a liquid so didn't really flow that well and really had to be rubbed in to cover my bleached ends, so i think painting it would have been easier.

I left mine on for the maximum 30 minutes as i wanted it to be really vibrant. They say on the information to wash until the water goes clear, you will never get the water clear, i was in the shower for about 30 minutes and it was still running pink, so don't worry too much about it.

I was really pleased with the results, it is almost two toned looking, much more raspberry on the ends where my hair was lighter and i a bit darker nearer the meeting point with my natural hair. However it still didn't cover all my hair and i have some blonde looking patches, especially at the meeting point so it really does need to be worked into the hair thoroughly.

So here is the final result

Geek!

I think it is safe to say i am a bit of a geek, you can't do a PhD without being a geek (i just gain to credit back as i am doing it in Marketing) so i wanted a t shirt that told the world what i was and that i was proud to be a geek.

The T shirt is actually a boys t shirt which i got from Bank for £14.40 (£16 without student discount) in an XL and the fit is perfect for me. I wanted to make the look a bit more quirky and teamed it with one of my late sales find, polka dot shorts from New Look, which cost me the grand sum of £7. They were a great little find but i think too short to wear without tights or leggings.

MAC Lipsticks

I have fallen for the charms of MAC lipstick and sadly it is a pricey love affair, luckily for me though, there is a Cosmetics Company Store in the Swindon outlet center which is only about 40 minutes from me. They do all sorts of brands in there, including Smash Box, Bobbi Brown, Estee Lauder, Clinique and MAC at discount prices, which is normally about 30%.

I now have nine MAC lipsticks which i think is boarding on slighty insane, considering i didn't have any a few months ago, but i just can't help myself, the colors are fabulous and at the price, i just can't say no. So here is my collection.

L-R Viva Glam V (Lustre) , Snob (Satin) and Soft Spot (Glaze)

L-R Pet Me Please (Frost), Overtime  (Pro Longwear) and Sweet Bits (Dazzle)

L-R Red Russian (Matte), Summer Shower (Glaze) and Impassioned.(Amplified Creme)

The last three I got on my last visit and i think i must have been feeling brave that day as these are quite bright colors for me but i intend on making them work!

Do you like MAC lipsticks? If so what is your favorite? and if not, what lipstick brand and color do you like?

Embellished Collar

This is another one of my Ebay finds, it does seem to be my favorite place these days, it is like a little treasure chest of treats.

It is the embellished collar shirt dress from Simply Be (Fast becoming one of my favorite brands) I was drawn to the print on the dress, on the website it is described as khaki print but i think this does it an injustice, it is green and white crosses, it just looks quite different and with the bead collar i just had to have it.

It was a size 22 which is a pretty good fit on me, my only complaint in the buttons, they haven't been designed too well and i ended up walking around with three of the buttons undone flashing the general public, quite embarrassing  they just seem to pop out (this isn't to do with strain at it doesn't pull, the buttons are simply too small for the holes and therefore don't stay there).  It comes to just above my knee which is where i like this dress, anyone on the taller side should be careful as it might come up quite short. I love it and have worn it several times, it has just taken me some time to get round to blogging it.

I got this dress for £22.50 which is a bargain as it retails for £45, you can buy it here

Fatshionologie: Budget Fashion

Fatshionologie is a blogger style challenge born out of a discussion on twitter in the hope that it would help us create exciting new content for our blogs as well as show that each new style 'theme' can be rocked by a variety of different body shapes!

This months theme is Budget Fashion, perfect for the January sales. The budget is £15 for the outfit. We put no boundaries on what this could be so it was up to each person to interpret it how they wanted.

I seen this as a chance to push myself and try something i wouldn't normally, a jumpsuit.

Jumpsuit - ASOS Curve, £11.25. Shoes - Borrowed from my mum, free. Belt - Matalan £2. Necklace - Forever 21, £1.45. (All these items were bought in the sale and some included extra discounts.) So this whole outfit comes in at £14.70

This jumpsuit is super comfy, it has pockets! which i love, means i can keep my phone in it if i needed too. The waist is quite low, hence me wearing a belt. The fabric is jersey so will keep you cool.  I could also dress this down for a more laid back look.

I hope you like my budget fashion look and why not go and check out the other Fatshionologie girls to see their budget fashion outfits.

That's Kind Of Pheasant

So this post won't feature a pheasant but i liked the pun. This will be a quick outfit post. This skirt i got on my shopping trip to Doncaster, it was full price but only £14.99 which included the belt, which i think is a really good price, i mixed it with my forever 21 t shirt.  I like the pop of colour the belt gives and the bird detail on the skirt isn't overwhelming. i paired it with pumps as i was just popping into uni for a meeting.

Sales Haul Part Duex

As i said in my last sales haul post, i was going to do part two once i had finished all my sale shopping, which i think i have now done, this will mostly be clothes that i have bought. I did buy some much in the sales but i would say about 70% of it ended up being unsuitable and returned.
