Style It Saturday

Today is the  first in a new monthly challenge i am taking part in called Style it Saturday.

Style It Saturday is a celebration of individuality which allows bloggers involved to showcase their own unique style. Each month there is a theme which we interpret to suit our styles and shapes, in order to share ideas and put our own imaginations to the test!

The ladies behind the challenge are the fabulous Bee and Emily  If you want more details about the challenge Emily wrote a post about it here.

Theme 1# Punk and Pretty

Dress - ASOS Curve, 24
T shirt - Borrowed from my mum
Boots - New Look

Well i'm not sure it is pretty but i think it has hints of Punk, the acid wash denim, the boots. I think this is an outfit that looked better in my head than on, but i am not one to hide away outfits that aren't always perfect. I really wanted to push my comfort zone, i could have just put on a tartan skater dress and looked good but that is what you would expect of me, and i don't want to be predictable. I don't want to use the F word, but this dress isn't the most flattering for my shape, it doesn't really highlight my curves and just makes my tummy look bigger (this dress comes up small so size up) but as us fatties always say, fuck flattering.

Now go check out all the other fabulous ladies taking part and

This is a more recent photo, it was taken at Longleat last summer for my 25th Birthday, my friends Su and Gemma came down from Glasgow to spend the weekend at mine f and Alice came across from London. We had an amazing day seeing the animals, i got to feed the sea lions and we got lost in the maze for over an hour. I miss these girls like crazy.

OMCZ - Unleash your wild side

Challenge 14#
Unleash your wild side - This weeks challenge was set by Nat and this is what she said when setting it "Leopard, cheetah, zebra....... I hope that will join me in unleashing your wild side and show some love for  animal print! Shoes, tops ,bags or be brave and go head to toe"

Dress - Simply Be

I am quite a fan of animal print and when i went looking for a dress for a this challenge i had a few options, but i decided to go with this one, perfect for Autumn with it's burgundy background, it is more muted, not as in your face as some animal print. I am wearing a size 20 but it is quite large and i think i could have sized down to a 18. At the back there is an exposed silver zip (sorry i didn't get any pictures of it). Now I just need to find the right belt to set it off.

Live unlimited

I have had this top a while now and have worn it a few times but i am only just getting round to showing it on the blog. This is another Live Unlimited piece i got in the sale. I loved the print and interesting back. In the heat the material can get a bit sticky let's say so isn't the perfect choice for a really warm day but great for the weather we are currently having. I am wearing a 20 and it fits perfectly, i find that most of the Live Unlimited pieces come up big. Simple but striking.

Bristol Blogger Meet

On Saturday i headed to Bristol for a blogger meet up organised by Clare and attended by Ali (she is a walking strawberry), Laura, Sheri, Cheryl and  Hannah . This was my first non plus size meet up so i was a bit nervous, to make it easier i took my friend Vikkie. We had lunch at Frankie an Benny's before hitting the shops and doing a bit of a Gromit spotting, we were having too much fun we forgot to take any pictures. I didn't buy much on the day itself, although i did fall in love with in Nars blusher in Spake NK and when i went back for it they didn't have it but i ordered it as soon as i got home and loads of other beauty bits inspired by the other girls. I hope this isn't the last Bristol Blogger Meet up i attend as i loved meeting the girls and sparked my interest in beauty and make up even more, so much that i hope to feature more of it on the blog.

Now onto what i wore

Dress - Em's Simply Be dress

I love this dress, it makes my figure look amazing. Em clearly put so much  though into it, the rouching, the diamond, the sleeve length, everything about it is perfect. I am wearing an 18 in this as i found the material stretches after wear and become baggy looks so i sent it back and ordered the size down. Thanks Em for making such a beautiful dress.

And here are some of the Gromits we came across

L'Oreal Sequin Explosion

While in Bristol on Saturday we went to check out the offering in Boots, i happened to stumble upon the L'Oreal stand and see they had the new collection in, i loved Confetti from the last collection and had seen some pictures of this new collection but while at the stand one polish in particular caught my eye, Sequin Explosion.

It's what it says on the bottle really, an eye catching explosion of different colored and shaped glitter. It is a top coat so is designed to go over another polish but i think this could be used on its own and still make a statement. The colours inside are almost jewel effect and it has 3d texture to it when it dries.

Over OPI Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok Fine! Sorry it isn't the best picture.
I found it really easy to apply (the same cannot be said for removal, tin foil was needed) and it can be built up really well, you will see from my pictures that i put two coats on as i wanted quite a dense glitter but it looks just as good with one coat. This is currently available in Boots and Superdrug for £4.99 but i got mine for £3.99 as Boots had £1 off L'oreal nail polishes. I think i like this polish so much that i might need to get another bottle as back up.

Style It My Way Challenge: Week 2

I have joined a new challenge which i think is going to be great fun called Style It My Way, each week, we are going to style an outfit based on a topic and the idea is to show how we all style things in our own way.

#Week 2 - Wedding Guest

Dress - Scarlett and Jo

I think i am having a slight love affair with Scarlett and Jo, more and more pieces are creeping into my wardrobe. So this is my wedding inspired look, i have to say i haven't really been to many weddings, none of my close friends are a the getting married stage. The colour of this dress is drool inducing and the shoulder detail just adds that little something extra that elevates this dress so something that bit special and therefore perfect for a Summer wedding.

I am wearing a 22 as i needed the extra room for my bust, which if i must say so myself looks amazing in this dress, in fact i think i look pretty great in this dress (Modesty is such a wonderful thing)

If you want to see how the other ladies styled this look then keep an eye out for posts on Twitter with the #styleitmyway  hashtag and if you would like to take part in this challenge then please head over and see Felicity for more details.

Having a polka dot moment

Just a quick outfit post today, I have been busy reading for my PhD and helping to look after my mum (be bossed about by my mum) so i am just wearing comfy dress. I like the longer sleeves and the polka dot print but what doesn't really show up in the pictures is that the dress is textured, the size 20 fits great as it has some stretch and it was only £16.

Dress - Matalan
Belt - New Look

Flash Back Thursday

I want to try out a new feature on my blog, Flash Back Thursday, where i take a photo from my past and share the story behind it. This is my second post, you can find the first post here.

So onto the photo...

This photo was taken in April 2010. I look so care free. I was in a park in Bracknell with my niece and dad trying to keep her entertained as my sister was getting was a new tattoo (a white one on her forearm similar to mine). My niece was a bit apprehensive about the elephant so i had to get on first and show her that is was ok and my dad snapped a picture of me.
