Primark Haul 2

Yesterday i met my brother in Bristol for dinner and to go see Russell Brand. We went to Frankie and Benny's, where i had the most delicious salted caramel cheesecake with honeycomb, anyway i digress. I managed to squeeze in a wee trip to Primark, i have been disappointed lately with the Bristol store as it always seemed really slow on getting the stock i see my fellow bloggers wearing, but i finally hit some gold (they also had amazing Christmas jumpers in but my brother talked me out of buying one....for now).

I just love a good dog cushion, my bed is now covered in them (well this is my 3rd) but is was just too pretty to leave behind.

Reindeer body puff. This was at the checkout along with shower hats, i love reindeers so i grabbed him on impulse but he is it pretty cute, not sure i want to rub him over my body though.

I went wild in the jewllery section as you will see, i had to stop myself from buying at least another 4 limited edition necklaces, they are all big, bold statement pieces that i love. I am so glad they finally arrived in Bristol. Bit gutted to discover though that two of the necklaces are missing stones, i clearly didn't check properly when buying as i was in  hurry. I think the prices are great though, £8 for a necklace that would be £20 in topshop so kudos to Primark, even if the quality isn't amazing.

Claire Richards Bird Print Dress

The lovely people over at Fashion World sent me this stunning Claire Richards dress*. It has a real vintage feel with the floaty chiffon and bird print, the length also adds to this.the dress is body lined with an elasticated waist, a contrast satin trim on the neckline and pretty angel sleeves. The crinkled georgette fabric gives the look a romantic feel. The sleeves are a really nice touch, and perfect for those who don't like to show their arms. I got the 22 and it was a bit big for me, so i could have got a 20 so i would say it is true to size. I am a big fan of navy, and it is nice for the autumn. I think this dress could be dressed up with some heels for a more fancy night out, i wore this for a PhD event.

Just another blogging challenge

Hello and welcome to a brand new monthly challenge, which has been devised by the lovely Toni and the first theme is a transitional outfit so we are taking something we wore in the Summer and re-styling it for Winter.

My summer outfit

Dress - Ruby Rocks
Crop top - New Look
Cardigan - New Look inspire
Boots - New Look
Necklace - Primark

The weather is pretty odd currently, it has been 15 degrees out most days, which i think is pretty warm, so i'm not really properly into my winter wardrobe yet as i'm just too warm, but this outfit is all about layering which is perfect for this kind of weather.

Go see how the other ladies have styled their summer outift for winter

Night Time Skin Regime

I have recently really got into skincare, at 26 i need to start looking my skin so that it look's it best so i thought i would share my night time skin regime with you and the products i use.

I normally start with L'oreal Micellar Solution this is my first cleanse and helps get my make up off and clean my skin, if i haven't been wearing make up, this is the only cleanse i will do. If i have been wearing make up i will then use my Lancome Galateis Douceur it has a light and milky formula which leaves my skin feeling  fresh and supple while hydrated, moisturized and refreshed.

I have two toners that i use and i tend to alternate between them. Lancome Tonique Douceur this is the perfect toner to use with my Lancome cleanser, it leaves my skin feeling the same way. REN Clarifying Toning Lotion this is a exfoliating toning lotion that unclogs pores and helps remove dead skin. It is also anti -microbial which helps with my spots.

Next up is my serum, i use Antipodes Apostle which is a skin brightening and tone correcting serum, i have heard great reviews of this product and it tackles some of my skin problem areas. Then i apply REN resurfacing AHA concentrate this is great for reducing pores, another one of the skin concerns, it also helps to improve moisture retention. It is part of the Radiance collection which makes skin appear more radiant, even toned and smoothed. I will sometimes use the REN Radiance perfection serum in the evening, which works in a similar way to the concentrate but i mostly use it in the morning so i will cover it in that post.

I finish off with my moisturizer. I use Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins every night, it is for dull skin, it smells amazing, it reminds of a orange lolly i used to have as a child. It stinks in amazingly and leaves my skin really soft and smooth. Once a week as a treat for my skin i will use Origins Drink Up Intensive which gives my skin an amazing moisture boost. Finally i will apply REN Anti-Aging Eye Cream as i have the start of a wrinkle around my eye (it was very traumatic finding this) so this helps to lift and firm the eye area.

That is a lot of product, yes it is expensive, but i think nothing of spending £50 on a dress, this is the skin i will live in for the rest of my life so i want to do everything i can to keep it looking amazing. This routine takes can take me anything from 10 minutes to 30 minutes, depending on how long i leave between each step.

What is your night time skin routine?

OMCZ Nightclub

Challenge 18#
Nightclub - This weeks challenge theme has been chosen by Verena.“ Imagine you're going clubbing with your friends, a girls night out whatever. My problem with nightclubs is, I always feel like I'm dressed wrong. I can do the whole programme and get really dolled up but in the end I always feel that everybody around me is dressed a lot cooler, hipper, stylish....So I would loved to see how all the other lovely ladies interpret the look “nightclub".

Top - ASOS Curve
Necklace - Black heart creative
Shoes - Matalan

For starters the idea of going to a nightclub is totally out of my comfort zone, i don't think i remember the last time i hit the clubs, it certainly has been while i've lived in Bath, the nightclub scene here is pretty dire and now i teach i don't want to run into my students, on top of that i don't drink so i much prefer a night in the pub chatting.
I really wanted to challenge myself, normally if i was going out i would just throw on a pretty dress, have some cleavage on show and off i would trot. I recently bough this top from ASOS and it was a bargain £13.50 and i thought it would be great for this challenge, it is lose and baggy, doesn't really show my shape, which is something i normally insist on. I think you can see my bum, but it will catch the light great in a club and for a bit of extra attitude i added my fat bitch necklace.

I wonder what the other ladies have done for nightclub attire

Over the knee boots

A big trend this A/W is over the knee boots, something us plus size ladies probably think is out of our reach, chubby calves make buying regular boots hard, let alone the over the knee variety but today i have two pairs for you that fit me (my calves are 18").

First up is a pair from New Look, which are a bargain at £39.99 and come in brown as well. They are from the wide range which means they have a bit of extra room and gave me hope.

From the front these look great, come well over my knee, are comfy, there is a bit of bagginess in the ankles, (i have quite slim ankles). They are pull on and the back is made of a stretchy material which is what lets my fat legs in. They have buckles, i only just managed to get the top one done up but there is a bit of room to put an extra hole in yourself. I found the backs came up a bit high on me and could get uncomfortable if wearing for a long period of time. Nice flat sole (i'm a no heel zone). All in all a nice little surprise.

The second pair are from Simply Be and these are on sale for £68. They come in two width fittings and three calf fittings.

Now the main problem with these is that that they aren't actually over the knee, and i'm not even tall, so i don't really know what went wrong, they need to be a few inches taller at the front however they are stunning. The back detail is lovely and really makes these boots stand out. They have a half zip to help get them on. Now i think i got super curvy (Simply Be don't tell you what you ordered calf wise which isn't helpful) and these were too big for me, i think i look a bit like Dick Whittington so i have ordered the calf size and foot size down, i could get these off without having to unzip them so i'm hoping the next size are a better fit. Even though they aren't over the knee i still love them so just had to keep them.

Leather Waffle

Dress - New Look Inspire
Cardigan - Costco

On Monday we had our annual welcome dinner for the new PhD's, there are loads of new ones this year and they all looked so young and excited, i'm hoping i didn't scare any with my tales. Sorry these pictures aren't great, getting used to the lighting situation in my room with my new webcam. This dress is a waffle print with leather patches on the side, i added a crop top underneath so it had little sleeves (seamless i hope) as it is getting a bit chilly and i added the red cardigan for a pop of colour and it is just so soft. We went to Jimmy Spice's which is an all your eat continental buffet but sadly i was a bit disappointed as vegetarian options were really limited, all the first years went home, leaving us hardcore older students to go for some drinks in Bath.

Face Of The Day #3

For my base i used Benefit porefessional a cult product that i'm not yet sold on. For my foundation i used Estee Lauder Double wear i've had this for a while but this is my first time using it, the coverage was good but i found it made my face warm and bit sweaty (pleasant i know) but maybe i put too much on and to set this i used Nars Pressed Powder which i love, gives me a perfect finish.

To highlight i used a new product Kevin Aucoin Celestial Powder which gives a really lovely glow to my skin and to bronze an old favorite NYX illuminating brozer which is great on my pale skin, i don't want to look grubby and for my blusher i used Benefit Hervana which gives a subtle hint of colour but looks great on my pale skin.

On my eyes i used a MUA palette (giving my Naked palette a rest) and my mascara was Lancome Hyponse which helps make me lashes look fuller. On my brows i used a MUA pencil which can be a bit heavy if you aren't careful. To finish the look off i slicked on some red lipstick in the form of MAC Relentlessly Red.
