Over the knee boots

A big trend this A/W is over the knee boots, something us plus size ladies probably think is out of our reach, chubby calves make buying regular boots hard, let alone the over the knee variety but today i have two pairs for you that fit me (my calves are 18").

First up is a pair from New Look, which are a bargain at £39.99 and come in brown as well. They are from the wide range which means they have a bit of extra room and gave me hope.

From the front these look great, come well over my knee, are comfy, there is a bit of bagginess in the ankles, (i have quite slim ankles). They are pull on and the back is made of a stretchy material which is what lets my fat legs in. They have buckles, i only just managed to get the top one done up but there is a bit of room to put an extra hole in yourself. I found the backs came up a bit high on me and could get uncomfortable if wearing for a long period of time. Nice flat sole (i'm a no heel zone). All in all a nice little surprise.

The second pair are from Simply Be and these are on sale for £68. They come in two width fittings and three calf fittings.

Now the main problem with these is that that they aren't actually over the knee, and i'm not even tall, so i don't really know what went wrong, they need to be a few inches taller at the front however they are stunning. The back detail is lovely and really makes these boots stand out. They have a half zip to help get them on. Now i think i got super curvy (Simply Be don't tell you what you ordered calf wise which isn't helpful) and these were too big for me, i think i look a bit like Dick Whittington so i have ordered the calf size and foot size down, i could get these off without having to unzip them so i'm hoping the next size are a better fit. Even though they aren't over the knee i still love them so just had to keep them.

Bristol Haul

On Tuesday i went through to Bristol to indulge in a spot of retail therapy and here is what i bought

  1. Reindeer cushion. Primark £5. I love a good cushion and my bed now has three. I like that this one is has a bit of a Christmas feel about it. It is kind of felt material and i love the stitched edges.
  2. Sweet leggings. Primark £6. When i saw these i just couldn't resist, they are covered in sweeties and for a fatty like me they are awesome.
  3. Fairy lights. Primark £3. I wanted some fairy lights to put around my bed and these were cheap and also plug into the mains, batteries are a pain in the bum.
  4. Relax sign. Primark £1. Sometimes i need to remember to relax, i am quite a stressy person so having this in my room will remind me to relax.
  5. L'oreal radiance revealing exfoliator . Boots Free. There was a 3 for 2 skincare offer on so i got this free with my other two purchases. I found this to be a gentle yet effective exfoliator so this is a repurchase.
  6. No 7 pore vacuum mask. Boots £14. I heard great things about this from my friend and seeing as my pores are one of my biggest issues i thought i would give this a go.
  7. Hydraluron Moisture Booster. Boots £24.99. This is a much raved about product in the beauty world and i suffer from dry skin which gets worse during the cold months so again i thought i would give this a go.
  8. MAC Viva Glam 1. Debenhams £15. I actually swapped another lipsticks i had for this (i bought ruby woo then bought riri woo in the limited edition packaging and don't really need both). I don't know if this is a permanent colour or if it has been brought back as part of a promotion but i love the dark red colour.
  9. MAC Mehr. Debenhams £15. I have been looking for this for ages but it was always out of stock, it is a perfect nude (one of my first nudes from MAC). A your lips but better colour. I see this getting a lot of use over the coming months.
So that's what i bought in Bristol. I was a bit disappointed with Primark, i had gone in with hopes of spending lots of cash, i wanted some jewelry but the stock was a bit disappointing, i did have to fight the urge to buy a new bedding set though.

Sales Haul Part Un

I have split this post into two parts because this weekend i am heading to Doncaster to meet up with some of the rad plus size blogging ladies for a day of fat shopping, i am so excited and a separate post about this will follow. I am hoping to get some bargain clothes on this trip so will be saving all my fashion purchases until then.

So for now i will show you what else i have been buying in the sales

I went to Matalan but sadly got there a few days late as there wasn't much left clothes wise, but i did find these decorations (a few are from Tesco). I love the bright colours, my mum thinks they are really tacky but i love that and hopefully next Christmas i will have my own house to put them up in. This whole box cost me about £30 when it should have cost nearer £70 as everything was at least half price.

So i had the decorations, i now needed a tree for them, i knew i wanted a white tree, to really make the decoartions stand out. I found this in Argos reduced to £10 from £40. It is a 6ft tree with decorations included and lights, an absolute bargain.

HD Brows Palette, the beauty group i am part of rave about this product and i am really starting to get into defining my brows and making them stand out so i have this product a go, it isn't cheap, normally £20 but i had an xmas discount code so got them for £15.43 with free p+p. I am hoping to go get the actual HD brows done so i will post about that.

Enrapture Jumbo Waver. I had reviews about this product being amazing for doing hair, i had recently bought a wand, which i do like but i liked the look this gave so thought i would give it a go. I got it in boots for £37.49, half price as it normally retails at £74.99. I will do a post soon showing you the results.

I am a huge stand up comedy fan but refuse to let my family buy me any of the dvds for Christmas as they are so expensive, i got all them from Sainsburys for £7 each (so about half price). This isn't actually all of them, i ordered 7, the others just haven't arrived yet.

I am such a perfume whore, i have so many, my mum always tells me off for buying more but i can't help myself, it is my one true weakness. I did get a Lady Gaga set for Christmas but i seen this reduced to £16.66 in Boots so i had to have it, i will leave this one at my BF's house. I also got the YSL Manifesto Perfume, it smells amazing, this is a 50ml bottle and comes with a 10ml handbag spray, it normally costs £60.50 but i got it for £34.99 from Fragrance Direct (who still  have it at this price) my BF ended up treating me to this.

I seen this cute reindeer mask while walking around Matalan and the checkout lady ended my giving it to me for free, my best bargain yet hehe.

And finally some Jewellery i got. The top necklace is from New Look, I just fell in love with it and it wasn't in the sale but i bought it anyway, when i got to the till it was actually reduced to £5 from £6.99 so i was happy. The spiked Epaulettes were from ASOS, originally £15 but i got them for £12 and the mini spike necklace is also from ASOS and was £8 but i got it for £6.20.

So that is my sale haul so far, i will be back with part duex next week.

Have you picked up any sale bargains?

All I want for Christmas is boots that fit

Being a girl with a wide calf makes boot buying impossible, i had pretty much given up hope of ever wearing a boot that came past my ankle. After seeing Mrs Bebe reviewing a pair of Simply Be boots i decided to give them a go. Also at the same time i seen a pair on Evans that i really liked and just thought if they don't fit they can just go back.

I am going to start with the Evan boots, i got these in a size 6 and they cost me £44 (student discount from onestopplus)

They are a really nice fit, the back has a stretch panel which means these boots even accommodate my large calves. They have a buckle detail and a little gold loop nearer the top. A good size heeled too, just perfect for this type of boot. They are soft and supple and won't stand up on their own, they are a bit baggy around my ankles but I think that will always happen as I have quite small ankles. They give a very close fit meaning there isn't really much of a gap between the boot and my leggings so you might struggle if you had thick jeans on. For the price I think these are amazing!

The Simply Be boot, I got this is in a size 6 and they were £75. These arrived in a lovely box and the quality is amazing, real leather with a pattern on them, they are rigid and will stand up on their own and they feel so soft to touch, I was really excited by them. Fit wise, they fit like a dream, because they more rigid they don't bag around my ankles as much. There is a bit of room at the top so not as fitted as the Evans ones but i like that, means I could wear them with jeans. I did wonder if I needed to size down to a 5 as they seemed a bit big but with my thicker socks on they are fine and I would rather a bit of room than be too tight. I love the two colour, it makes them really striking, they are very riding boot like, especially with the metal bar, these boots just scream quality and will the £75 price tag is a bit steep, they really are worth it.

When i first bought these boots it was my intention to only keep one pair and as the Evan's boots were cheaper i thought they would be the ones I would keep, however i was so impressed with the Simply Be boots that i have decided to keep both as I see them as a investment for this Winter and next. They are different enough to also justify this.

Where do you buy your boots from?
