Modern Love

Babydoll - Debenhams

So Valentines day is upon us, for a single person who is in the midst of heartbreak, i can say i wasn't looking forward to it. My parents came up and took me for lunch and to do some food shopping as my card was cloned and the bank have blocked it, all well but it leaves me without any money for a week. I bought a lot of chocolate in Asda, my mum was glaring at me, i just told her it is valentines day and i am alone, i want to end up in a sugar coma so deep i won't remember any of this.

Anyhow there is a point to this post, my Valentine this year is myself, i wanted to learn to love myself, and after a break up, where you look at every possible flaw in yourself to see what you did wrong, you take a bit of a battering. So i put on some sexy undies that i bought while we were together but broke up before they saw the light of day and paraded around my bedroom to some loud music, i felt great and dare i say it, sexy? and it seemed a waste for only by cuddly toys to see this, so i thought i would share it with you. Happy Valentines Day. xxx

Bristol Haul

On Tuesday i went through to Bristol to indulge in a spot of retail therapy and here is what i bought

  1. Reindeer cushion. Primark £5. I love a good cushion and my bed now has three. I like that this one is has a bit of a Christmas feel about it. It is kind of felt material and i love the stitched edges.
  2. Sweet leggings. Primark £6. When i saw these i just couldn't resist, they are covered in sweeties and for a fatty like me they are awesome.
  3. Fairy lights. Primark £3. I wanted some fairy lights to put around my bed and these were cheap and also plug into the mains, batteries are a pain in the bum.
  4. Relax sign. Primark £1. Sometimes i need to remember to relax, i am quite a stressy person so having this in my room will remind me to relax.
  5. L'oreal radiance revealing exfoliator . Boots Free. There was a 3 for 2 skincare offer on so i got this free with my other two purchases. I found this to be a gentle yet effective exfoliator so this is a repurchase.
  6. No 7 pore vacuum mask. Boots £14. I heard great things about this from my friend and seeing as my pores are one of my biggest issues i thought i would give this a go.
  7. Hydraluron Moisture Booster. Boots £24.99. This is a much raved about product in the beauty world and i suffer from dry skin which gets worse during the cold months so again i thought i would give this a go.
  8. MAC Viva Glam 1. Debenhams £15. I actually swapped another lipsticks i had for this (i bought ruby woo then bought riri woo in the limited edition packaging and don't really need both). I don't know if this is a permanent colour or if it has been brought back as part of a promotion but i love the dark red colour.
  9. MAC Mehr. Debenhams £15. I have been looking for this for ages but it was always out of stock, it is a perfect nude (one of my first nudes from MAC). A your lips but better colour. I see this getting a lot of use over the coming months.
So that's what i bought in Bristol. I was a bit disappointed with Primark, i had gone in with hopes of spending lots of cash, i wanted some jewelry but the stock was a bit disappointing, i did have to fight the urge to buy a new bedding set though.

It's a nice day for a white wedding

In my last post i showed you my travelling outfit to Nottingham, now it is time to show you what i actually wore to the wedding.  I seen this Dress in Debenhams, actually to be precise  my mum seen this dress and i snatched it out of her hands and ran away to try it on. It was perfect! It is by Jasper Conran and was reduced to £30 from £65 and is a size 18 (and i still had room) showing you really need to try things on) I loved the pleated skirt, which was a good length, i loved the cross detail over my bust, showing a hint of cleavage without being full on in your face boobs (not wedding appropriate). The dress came with a black belt, but you could hardly notice in, so i changed it to a animal print belt and to add another pop of colour i wore my ASOS plum tights and Dark Navy shoes (which by dinner were off and i had my pumps on for dancing)

My niece making her blog debut! How cute is she?

While waiting for our taxi, i had the munch so got some Thorntons chocolate to tide me over.

The dress with the original belt - please excuse how rough i look.

The wedding was actually a really lovely day, i was a bit worried beforehand about how it would all go, i hadn't actually seen my older brother in about 10 years, and had never met his wife. Things could have gone horribly pear shaped, with people kicking off, but it was actually nice to chat to my brother, it feels weird that i hardly know anything about his life yet we are related, i hope to work on my relationship with my brother and turn it into a more positive one.

The Bride and Groom and my two nieces in the left corner.

Once we get the offical photos back i am sure i will do an post full of pictures.

Floral Polka Dots

This is such an amazing dress, the print is just fanatic, i love polka dot and floral is really big this season. The dress is from H by Henry Hollands (Available at Debenhams). Its a size 18 and cost £25.

It has a little bit of stretch but not much, if the range extended past a 18 i would have sized up but as it doesn't and i loved this dress so much i had to have it. It does fit and isn't uncomfortable, i love the longer sleeve, it's such a quirky length. The material is thicker jersey making it perfect for this colder weather and it also means the pattern doesn't get that white look when stretched a bit. It has cute button detailing on the back. The only downside of this dress is how short it is, it only just covers my bum, but as i have said before, short doesn't really bother me.
